Sire Line

Contender

Calypso II was one of the most significant sires of Germany. His progeny are characterised by good jumping ability and excellent ride ability. He left outstanding sires and performance horses of international format in Holstein and Hanover. Initially stationed in Holstein until 1986, Calypso II was then transferred to the Celle state stud as a leased stallion from 1987 to 1989 and from 1990 until his death at the end of 1995 covered at the Amselhof in Walle. Contender's dam Gofine produced top class show jumpers with different sires, including Ulina (by Chicago), an international advanced competition horse under Susanne Behring, as well as Largo, Frechdachs and Florenza all of whom were top performance horses. In 1989, she gave birth to the Caletto I son Cornetto, who was approved in 1991 and became second vice-champion of the approval. The champion stallion of the 1992 Holstein approval, Cassandro I (by Caletto I - Landgraf I), is a grandson of the mare Gofine and is doing well for Italy in show jumping. His full-brother Cassandro II is very successful up to advanced class and has already presented a number of excellent foals.

Bloodline 2472 moreover brought forth the well-known Holstein stallions Fasching (Holstein Association) and Gaugraf (Traventhal state stallion).

Performance record: Contender won the 1987 Adelheidsdorf stallion performance test. He was declared I-b main premium vice-champion in Oldenburg as a result of his excellent first batch of foals. Breeding record: Contender began his steep career as a procreator of sports horses very early. His tally of approved sons amounts to 55 and his premiumed daughters number 56 to date. The Contender daughter Riconda was champion of the Elite Mare Show in Rastede in 1993. Contender's career began in Oldenburg and continued without a hitch in Holstein, where he distinguished himself with esteemed elites for both breeding and sport. He has moreover been a constant purveyor of top quality horses of both disciplines for the Holstein elite auctions. The FN breeding value rating has listed him as one of the most versatile top class hereditary transmitters of Germany for years now. Countless excellent showjumpers like his sons Montender/M. Kutscher, Controe/J. Kreutzmann, Carlos 123/M. Renzel, Constantin 24/J. Naeve and the mare Gambe 19/M. Merschformann are highly successful at both the national and international levels.
