Qualifiers for the World Breeding Championships to be held at Quainton Stud

Quirifino Quainton
Quirifino Quainton - Quainton Studs own Zangersheide

Quainton Stud has identified a missing link between the way young horses are produced in Great Britain and the rest of Europe.  In Germany, Italy, France, Holland, Belgium, young horses qualify for the World Breeding Championships through their National Young Horse Shows.  Previously the only way horse/rider combinations could qualify from Britain was through the chef d’equipe.  Quainton Stud’s May show, is now an officially recognised qualifier to the FEI World Breeding Championships, held in Lanaken each September.

Quainton Stud in Buckinghamshire has recently formulated a relationship with the Zangersheide Stud Farm and Stud Book in Lanaken, Belgium.  In addition to Britain’s chef d’equipe’s normal quota of four horses from each age category, the winner in each class (5, 6, & 7 year olds) will automatically qualify for the World Breeding Championships.

The Quainton European Breeding Championships are being judged using a European  format and three officials from Germany will score horses on their technique as well as jumping scores, the show is to be held on the 19-22nd May 2008.

Further advantages of Quainton Stud’s association with Zangersheide will be enjoyed throughout the coming years.   Quainton will host the Z Foal Festival, which will include foal brandings and registrations.  Also planned for the future are stallion approvals and presentations.

Quainton Stud is happy to extend its fixed fee veterinary packages and in foal fees to mare owners who are using Zangersheide stallions.  This will ensure the mares and young stock receive the highest quality care and the most competitive prices available.

How do we compare?

Quainton Stud has recently researched how our semen freezing prices compare with other popular equine semen freezing centres in the UK. The findings demonstrated how favourable Quainton’s prices compare, with substantial savings for clients in all of the three different sections. Quainton Stud offer a unique fixed Vet Fee Package. (To find out more about the fixed Vet Fee Package please click here).

Please see below how Quainton Stud not only provide the best European bloodlines to UK breeders, but they also manage to offer the most favourable prices for the 2008 season!

How do Quainton Stud’s semen freezing prices compare to other popular equine semen freezing centres in the UK?

Most centres charge based on the number of frozen breeding doses produced:
FACT! - The average number of breeding doses produced from a collection is 8 (this can vary from 4 - 15+ doses per collection) based on the number of sperm produced, the initial quality of the semen and how well the stallion's sperm withstand the freezing process.
FACT! - Some freezing centres charge £8.50 - £12.50 per dose, this can work out quite expensive. Quainton Stud feel that this can prove to be quite expensive for the breeder, we offer fixed fee packages as it is a farer pricing strategy and the breeder knows exactly what the costs will be and saves the breeder money.

Quirifino impresses Horse & Hound

Horse & HoundQuirifino Quainton’s recent success at Addington Manor is reported in this weeks Horse & Hound. A picture of Ben and Quirifino Quainton winning their class is also featured.

The article reads: Just missing out on Hickstead by finishing third, Ben Maher gained some consolation in the Blue Chip B and C Dynampic qualifier. From a start list of 72, he eventually emerged on top riding locally-based Quainton Stud’s stallion Quirifion Z, pushing John Crippen’s…. Ben believes this eight-year-old son of Quidam de Revel has the scope and ability to take him all the way and hopes to upgrade him towards international shows at the end of the year. However stud work is a principal aim. “He had his first year at stud in 2007 and is proving very popular this year,” said Ben, who is making a month-long trip to Florida from mid-February. “I’m hoping he gets the majority of his stud work done while I’m away.”
