“The time came to retire my opinionated, much treasured hunter mare Diamond. A great friend, who had participated in a jumping clinic at Quainton Stud, suggested I check out the stud’s retirement livery. I rang and organised a visit.
“Diamond has been under the daily care of the QS team for almost two years now. They accommodate her spirit; indeed they celebrate it. The team’s flexibility and diligence are two aspects I greatly appreciate.
“Diamond and I shared many adventures and built a bond. Now it is my turn to do right by her and, for me, that does not mean turning her out onto a grassy Welsh hillside where I might see her once a year. At Quainton, I can visit her any time and someone from my family does visit once a month. Equally the QS team is proactive in communicating, whether I visit or not, texting me photos of my beloved ‘pony’ with the sun on her back in June, for example. They worm Diamond; they ask if I’d like the farrier or equine dentist to check her etc.
“She shares a huge field and stable with another mare who dotes on her. They are rugged as necessary, and if the weather is inclement Diamond has the option of coming in (but invariably opts to stay out grazing with her buddy!)
“Quainton Stud is a glorious and caring haven where there is the bustle of regular clinics and comings and goings to keep the retired horses stimulated.
“I wholly recommend Quainton Stud. I cannot see how anyone could do better by their trusty steed than to let them see out their days on this earth, free, safe, loved, with all their daily needs catered for.”
- Hilary Crossing, managing director, Focus PR
My horses have been retired at Quainton Stud for over two years now and I couldn’t be happier. The horses look wonderful and are calm and relaxed. The staff are helpful and friendly and treat the horses as they would their own. Since they have been at Quainton I never worry about them.

Event and Facilities Testimonials
“I have now been to 5 camps at Quainton Stud and would highly recommend them. They are always well organised and details are made clear to riders before arrival. The facilities are superb , with comfortable stables, top of the range surfaces to work your horse on, a huge range of showjumps and plenty of seating to watch other lessons. The stud pick there trainers very carefully and they are always knowledgeable , encouraging, no matter what your level they can help you learn and build your relationship with your horse and really respect every horse and rider combination as individuals. The atmosphere at the camps is always relaxed and friendly, and over my past camps I have made some life long friends. The food provided is absolutely delicious, especially the cake , which is a particular highlight of the weekends. I have taken two totally different horses to camp and on both have gained invaluable knowledge, built my confidence, developed my ridden skills and knowledge and had an absolutely brilliant time. The only problem with Quainton Studs camps is you cant just go once , you will want to keep coming back again and again”

“Over the past few years I have been involved with Quainton on various levels; using their facilities for schooling, teaching clinics, and judging at their unaffiliated competitions. I have always found Quainton to be a friendly and welcoming facility where nothing is too much to ask. The indoor and outdoor facilities are first-rate, with surfaces that ride well and are meticulously maintained throughout the year. The location is also excellent, being both easily accessible and set in beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside.”
